"Doubt Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will"        ✯ Suzy Kassem ✯

Leaving it Behind

Horror walked the halls
it's icy fingers clawing tangible walls
Belligerence on it's breath
and crawling just beneath the surface
was a pool of pain so penetrating that it began to wick and seep it's way up to the surface

Like a joker
Her smile was only skin deep

She made it look effortless
but she was loosing sleep
She had to keep cleaning up the carnage as quick as it came to keep the smell of it from attracting more monsters.

With hardly a sound
With nary a peep
With head hung and bone weary from counting too many sheep
The enormity of her obstacles a secret to keep
She braved another day

Horror walked the halls a step behind her
It's breath on her neck a constant reminder
To never look back
One foot in front of the other
Day after day
until there isn't another
